Warrant Resolution Day Addresses Record Number of Outstanding Warrants

More than 1,000 outstanding bench warrants were addressed and nearly $2,300 in delinquent court costs and fees was collected at Metro Court’s Warrant Resolution Day this past November.  That’s 200 more warrants and $600 more in collected fees than a similar event in 2018.
Warrant Resolution Day gave individuals a chance to work with a judge to resolve warrants in non-violent misdemeanor, traffic and parking cases.  Domestic violence, DWI and felony warrants were not eligible for consideration for the event.

“Putting these low-level warrants behind them takes a huge burden off of citizens and also frees up law enforcement for more serious matters,” said Court Executive Officer Robert L. Padilla.  “People were able to walk out with their cases resolved or with an upcoming court date and in good standing with the Court.”

Attorneys from the Private Defense Bar, the Law Offices of the Public Defender and the 2nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office were available to advise individuals and to discuss options prior to appearing before a judge.
